Google Wave will almost certainly have an application marketplace, where people will be able to buy third party plug ins for the forthcoming collaboration and communication tool.

Speaking to TechRadar about the Preview trial of Wave, Google Senior Staff Engineer and Wave co-developer Lars Rasmussen admitted that he would be surprised if an application store model was not followed.

“So we haven’t 100 per cent locked this in, but all the developers are asking [about paid-for apps],” said Rasmussen.

Now I have Google Wave, no invites and no one to talk to. Oh the joys of new technology. But it does look promising. The only thing I’d be worried about is that it’s an even better way to kill time. With eMail you can choose when to respond, while with Google Wave that’s difficult once you signed it.

And that you-can-see-other-people-type-feature looks more like a marketing gag than anything useful. I’m not even sure I want to broadcast the very first version of something I write.

Anyway, the band’s name is Son Goku, so that’s an instant-win.

After looking for a sturdy and small USB stick for a while, I think this is what I’m going to get. It’s tiny, shock and waterproof, and also pretty cheap.

The idea is to put all the really essential stuff (like scans of the most important documents) onto it. 8-16GB are plenty for that and with TrueCrypt I don’t even have to worry about losing it.
